Cannon Cliff-Slabs | Grafton County, New Hampshire

Located below the former location of the Old Man of the Mountain formation the Cannon Cliff slabs offer renown, classic climbs on granite. The approach can be a challenge in and of itself; depart right from the paved path next to a large block and follow a faint path, eventually you may see some cairns but moving through the talus covered brush just before you break through to the open talus field is bound to try your patience. Rock fall is an ever present hazard at Cannon Cliff so wearing a helmet is a must. Beware the weather at Cannon as conditions can change quickly and storms approaching from the west will not be visible until they are upon you.
